Weller Piezo Butane Gas Soldering Set - WP3EU (14-Jan-2012)

I recently bought a new Weller gas powered soldering iron from Rapid Electronics in the UK.
Whilst I do have the occasional need for a portable soldering iron, I really wanted it for use on heat-shrink sleeving. I’ve got an electric hot-air blower built into my Xytronic de-solder station and for jobs with many shrinks to do it’s great, but it does take a while to warm up and sometimes I just want to make a quick cable assembly so wanted something compact and fast. It’s also not very portable.

Review of DC to DC buck converter based on LM2596 (1-May-2016)

Ebay is awash with these modules costing peanuts, and if they work as advertised they are incredibly useful to have around. The ability to construct hi-current variable voltage PSUs that generate very little heat, are small, cheap and use only a handful of components are a constructors dream.
The only way to test a PSU is to power it up, put it under some type of load and stress it till it fails, and that’s what I did.
